PAUL Payne welcomes back Dean Janaway and Dan Hutchens for tomorrow’s trip to Blandford in the Dorset Premier League (1.30pm).

The Weymouth skipper believes the duo can help build on the encouraging signs in last weekend’s 113-run defeat against heavyweights Poole Town by helping lead the side to a first victory of the season.

Payne said: “There were plenty of positives to take out of last Saturday’s performance and we need to make sure we build on them tomorrow.

“With all due respect to the rest of our team, Poole are a better side at this moment in time and will be up there challenging whereas we have got very different priorities.

“Hopefully, we can get off the mark with a win this week and with Dean and Dan both back available we will stand a good chance.

“Dan has been fantastic for us over the last couple of years and although he has struggled with his knee, he is now back fit and raring to go back up top with the new ball.

“As for Dean, he has a lot of Premier League experience now and recently scored a ton in pre-season, so he is in good touch and hopefully he can reproduce that form tomorrow.

“Over the past few years our games with Blandford have always been close and I am expecting no different this time around.”

Tom England is unavailable for Weymouth while Sean Fitzgerald has dropped down to take the reins of the seconds.

Blandford also suffered defeat in their opening game of the season.

The North Dorset outfit put on 218-8 in a five-wicket loss against Wimborne & Colehill.
