THE Greenhill quartet of Hilda Stokes, June Searle, Bridget Hodder and Anne Chislett represented Dorset in the national fours at Leamington Spa.

In the first game against Norfolk, the Dorset foursome pulled off a superb 36-1 victory after 14 ends when the Norfolk ladies conceded.

Next up, Cumbria proved stiffer opposition and despite leading 12-7 after seven ends, Dorset trailed by two shots going into the 21st end.

Chislett narrowly missed out on a three-shot count to secure victory, so the Greenhill contingent bowed out, albeit with their heads held high, 21-18.

The other Dorset quartet of Kay Saunders, Wendy Hardy, Julie Saunders and Penny Cresswell also lost on their second game.

Premier Division One

Also in winning form were Brian Burroughs, John Crabb, Mike Durant and Kevin Walbridge – 23-17 against Alan Godwin, Liam Rock, Graham Parker and Ryan Stone.

Wellies’ two points came via Ron Rutter, Nigel Skidmore, Roy Burnett and Steve Reed, who defeated Jim Kelly, Derek Gray, Ron McCarthy and Barry Patterson 18-15.

Percy Baker Triples

GREENHILL are through to the semi-finals of the Percy Baker Triples.

The away trio of Brian Burroughs, Pete Brown and StJ Corben set the ball rolling, gaining a decent 21-12 victory over Wellworthy’s Ernie Munson, Dave Munts and Brian Durant.

The home rink of John Hodder, Mervin Aubrey and Danny Brookes slipped up 15-13 against Harry Miller, Joe Kelly and Terry Vincent but the damage had been done and Greenhill now face Borstal Officers for a place in the area finals.
