FIRST-TIME entrants, the Portland Borstal Ladies, have won the West Dorset Edna Paisley Triples Bowling League.
The talented team, comprising of captain Roz Hill, vice-captain Beryl Helliwell, Edna Jarvis, Teresa Brown, Jean Miller, Ena Hicks, June Gillespie, Chris Nutman and Heather Milward, fought off opposition from Lyme Regis, Bridport, Sherborne, Dorchester and Weymouth to cap-ture the crown before taking on East Dorset winners Blandford in the grand final.
The spectacle was held at Dorchester Bowling Club and unfortunately for the islanders they came up short but it did not tarnish what has been an incredible triples campaign.
