STEVE Alcock is backing his men to spring a surprise tomorrow.

Weymouth Sports welcome Dorset Senior League leaders Wareham Rangers to Weymouth College (3pm), bidding to become the first team to inflict defeat on the table-toppers.

And even though his side suffered a 5-0 hiding at the hands of Portland United Reserves last Saturday, Alcock is confident they can upset the odds tomorrow.

The player-boss said: “Wareham are going very well and it’s going to be a tough ask but it’s a topsy-turvy league and anyone can beat anyone, it’s down to how much you want it.

“If we show the same attitude we have done for the majority of the games this season we will have a chance.

“There are no easy games in this league and you can’t afford to take your foot off the pedal.”

Alcock hopes to welcome back Stu Dixon, Jason Thoday and star striker Robbie Rolls. Ben MacCon-nachie and Ed Bastick remain doubtful.

Upwey & Broadwey meanwhile, will be looking to extend their winning run to five games when they visit second-placed Kingston Lacy (3pm).

Lacy are also undefeated this term but were held to a goalless draw by rock-bottom Blandford last weekend, reaffirming Steve Reynolds’ belief that his side can continue their fine run of form.

He said: “They drew with Blandford last weekend, which was a bit of a surprise and just shows that anything can happen.

“On paper it’s our toughest game for a while but they did draw with Blandford, who we murdered 6-0. If they can draw at home to Blandford, perhaps they are not as good as people think they are.

“It’s a big game though and we need to get something out of it. Three points would obviously be better than one.”

Phil Anderson, Pete Bochonko and Sam Purnell are all expected to return.

Elsewhere, Portland United Reserves visit struggling Piddletrenthide while Chickerell United Reserves host Witchampton United (both 3pm).
