FORMER Weymouth boss Ian Hutchinson is the latest candidate to declare his interest in the Dorchester Town job.

The 38-year-old is keen to return to management having been out of a job since last January – when he was sacked from his role at the Bob Lucas Stadium just a fortnight after then chairman George Rolls had announced plans to offer him a new three-year deal.

And Hutchinson admits he would be more than happy to take the reins at rivals Dorchester.

When quizzed by Echosport, the Teesider, who spent time on loan at the Avenue Stadium towards the end of his playing career, said: “I spoke to Shaun Hearn (Dorchester chairman) as an enquiry more than anything but I would be daft not to be interested.

“It’s a good level of football, a very well-run club and I have always felt welcome there.

“I want to get back into the game as I feel I have unfinished business as a manager.

“I believe in myself and I feel I’ve got a lot to offer. What happened at Weymouth was a shame as I thought I was doing a good job under difficult circumstances.

“To get the opportunity to manage at Dorchester would be an honour but it’s all hypothetical at the moment.

“From what I’ve heard there are some good names going for the job, and that is what you would expect.

“I’ve thrown my hat in the ring and Shaun is aware of that. We’ll see what happens.”

Other names in the frame include fellow ex-Terras Alan Lewer and Des Bulpin, Christchurch manager Graham Kemp, Bridport boss Trevor Senior and current county town caretaker Phil Simkin.

It is also believed that David Byrne, once head of player development at Swindon Town, ex-AFC Bournemouth youth team coach Joe Roach, former Woking boss Kim Grant and ex-Newport County manager Peter Beadle are all in the running.
