Dorchester Town Reserves will be looking to start the New Year with a bang tonight as they play host to Christchurch (7.45pm).

Following a two-week break due to the festive period, the Magpies are “champing at the bit” according to boss Robbie Taylor.

He said: “We’re looking forward to getting a game on again and the lads are champing at the bit.

“It’s the first game back and I’m sure they’ll be buzzing. Hopefully the weather holds off as we would be devastated if the game were to be called off.

“We’ve got a nice run of fixtures coming up and although results are not vitally important, hopefully we can build some confidence and get a run going.”

Dorchester hope to be at full-strength this evening, with the possible addition of one or two first-team squad members.

Taylor added: “Having spoken to Phil Simkin before their game with Salisbury on Monday there’s a possibility we might have a couple of first-team players playing for us tonight. We’ll just have to wait and see.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we do as some of them haven’t had much of a run-out over Christmas and I’m sure they will want to play.

“I’ve been at clubs where playing for the reserves can be a bit of a chore but here the senior players seem to enjoy it, which is a good sign.”
