BRENDON King has branded tomorrow’s trip to Arlesey Town (3pm) as a huge test of character for his in-form side.

Weymouth, who beat high-flying AFC Totton 3-1 last Monday, have taken 10 points from their last four games and are odds on to continue the momentum at Hitchin Road this weekend.

In stark contrast, fourth-bottom Arlesey are currently on a winless run of five games and have only tasted home success in the league once from 12 attempts this season, but King is certainly not taking them lightly.

He told Echosport: “In many ways this game will be even more difficult than the last two against St Albans City and AFC Totton.

“It is the sides down the bottom that we have struggled most against this season and it is vital our mindsets are right otherwise we will be in for a tough afternoon.”

That solitary home victory for the Blues came against current table-toppers Brackley Town on August 23.

King added: “They will be no pushovers believe you me. We had a report done on their last game at Cambridge City and by all accounts they were very unfortunate to lose 3-1.

“They are not a bad side and with the weather we have had recently it is likely the pitch is going to be very heavy so it could well turn out to be a bit of a battle.

“It is important we are ready for that, if that turns out to be the case, and continue to show the type of character we have in recent weeks because this is a massive period now, which will shape our season.”

The Terras currently sit 10th in the Evo-Stik Sout-hern Premier just nine points adrift of the play-offs with games in hand on seven of the teams above them.

Ben Gerring and James Coutts will both come back into contention this weekend and with a massive FA Trophy second round tie against Blue Square Pre-mier outfit Alfreton Town (January 14) the following assignment, King has challenged his players to earn their shirts.

He said: “Ben is back from a two-match suspension and this will be James’ final game of his current loan deal after being unable to play against Totton, so the squad we will be taking this weekend looks strong.

“That is why it is important people continue to produce the goods otherwise they might end up finding themselves starting on the bench.”

When asked whether Coutts’ loan deal will be extended, King went on to say: “There is every possibility we will look to increase it but he would not be eligible to feature against Alfreton in the Trophy anyway so we will probably look at it again after that.”
