WEYMOUTH welcome back skipper Julian Quick for tomorrow’s tussle with basement boys Ellingham & Ring-wood Seconds (2.30pm).

The captain has been nursing a foot injury for several weeks and despite continually playing through the pain barrier, Quick was forced to sit out last weekend’s narrow win at Sherborne Seconds.

But he is fit enough to take his place on the Monmouth Avenue pitch for tomorrow’s Dorset & Wilts One South clash.

Head coach Paul Harding said: “Julian will be coming back into the side and it’s great news for us.

“He didn’t play last week as he picked up a knock the week before.

“He has a foot injury which has never fully recovered and he is still waiting to find out what needs to happen with it.”

Craig Gelderd also returns to the fold but on the flip side, Craig Barter, Tom Beech and Sam Morris are all absent.

Table-topping Weymouth will be huge favourites going into the game but Harding is not taking anything for granted.

He added: “They got promoted last year and have had a tough season but of late they have been competitive in their games so I’m not expecting an easy game.

“They will take some breaking down so we have just got to stick to what we do best.”

A mouth-watering derby takes place in Southern Counties South as Dorches-ter make the relatively short trip to rivals Sherborne (2.30pm).

Tomorrow’s hosts are currently two spots and nine points clear of fourth-placed Dorchester.

But victory at Gainsborough Park would see the county town outfit move to within touching distance of their near neighbours.

Although entering the clash on the back of an 86-3 demolition of struggling Blandford, Martin Oxland’s men will no doubt face a much sterner examination tomorrow as they take on a side that ran out 13-9 winners at Coburg Road little more than three months ago.

Puddletown are also in derby action as they face a tough challenge at Weymouth Seconds (2.30pm).

In a game that will decide which team occupies third place in Dorset & Wilts Two South, the Villagers will be determined to overturn the narrow defeat they suffered at the hands of their opponents earlier in the season, and so build on their current three-point advantage.

Puddletown will be at full strength with James House, Josh Hiscock and Ryan Snook, who between them scored seven tries last time out, all expected to start. After losing at title-chasing Warmin-ster last weekend, Bridport will be looking to bounce back when they entertain lowly Salisbury Seconds (2.30pm).

The visitors lie second from bottom in Dorset & Wilts One South and fell to a 29-15 defeat when the two sides met in October.

Blues’ head coach Mark Botten said: “We won at their place and that is the only game we have won away from home this season.

“But they beat Swanage & Wareham Seconds last Saturday, which was a shock result.

“Hopefully we should be back to full strength as we didn’t pick up any injuries.”

Last but not least, Swanage & Wareham visit rock-bottom Olney (2.30pm) with the aim of recording back-to-back wins in South West One East.,p>

* The funeral of former Weymouth player Barrie Mason will take place on February 1 at Weymouth Crematorium (2.30pm).

The family have requested no black and no flowers, with rugby shirts and donations to Joseph Weld Hospice most welcome.
