PORTLAND United are eyeing their second semi-final of the season as they prepare to do battle with Swanage Town & Herston (1.30pm).

Having already booked their place in the last four of the Dorset Senior Cup, where they will meet Dorchester Town, the Blues are hoping to do likewise in the Magna Dorset Premier League Cup.

Standing in their way tomorrow are the eighth-placed Swans, who suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of United when the two sides last met before Christmas.

However, boss Stuart Heath is taking nothing for granted.

Previewing tomorrow’s encounter at Grove Corner, he said: “They will come to us a bit stronger than they were before Christmas as I believe they have picked up a couple of players.

“They are a good side on their day and will come here with nothing to lose.

“We have just got to make sure we keep the momentum we have had in the last few games and hopefully reach the semi-finals.

“The lads have plenty to look forward as we’re in the quarter-finals of this cup, the semi-finals of the Dorset Senior Cup and we’re still in the title race.

“It’s got all the makings of a good game, we just need to make sure our mental preparation is right.”

After last weekend’s top-of-the-table clash at Wincanton fell victim to a waterlogged pitch, the islanders hope to welcome back Lloyd Cranny, Adam Linaker, Chris Reader and Grant Chance.

Chickerell United face an even tougher prospect in their quarter-final clash in the form of high-flying Westland Sports (1.30pm).

The Chickens lost 3-1 against the third-placed Yeovil outfit in league action back on December 10 and boss Maurice Welch knows his men will have to be at their best in order to progress.

Speaking ahead of the tie at Weymouth College, Welch said: “Last Saturday we were not at our best against Parley, despite winning 3-2, and we will need a much better performance this weekend if we are to beat Westland Sports.

“They are a very good footballing side with a lot of quality and we will need to be at the top our game if we want to keep the cup run going.”

Tom Peck suffered a rib injury against Parley but is expected to be okay to feature while Jamie Sibley, Stew Walbridge and Warren White will all miss out. Steve Lambert is also a doubt.

Meanwhile, in league action, Wey-mouth Reserves host Hamworthy United Reserves at the Bob Lucas Stadium (2pm).

The second-bottom Terras have drawn their last two but have not tasted victory since December 3.

Joint-boss Jake Richmond said: “The last time we played them we lost 5-1 after producing one of our worst performances of the season.

“We were dreadful that night so we will be looking to make amends although we are still struggling with injuries.

“Jamie Perry, Charlie Holland and Matt Harvey should all be back available following commitments with Dorset Under-18s but we do have several players carrying knocks, which is a bit of a concern.

“Hopefully the majority of them will come through and be fit to play.”

Bridport Reserves will also be keen to get back to winning ways in the league after dropping five points in their last two games.

Prior to that the Bees had won their previous six and boss Steve Crabb is eager for a quick return to that vein of form, starting tomorrow against Merley Cobham Sports at St Mary’s Field (3pm).

He said: “Merley have won their last three so they are bound to come here full of confidence. Therefore I am expecting another very tough game and we will need to make sure we are on it from the first whistle if we are to come out on top.”

Adam Steele is unavailable for the Bees, who are also likely to be without Robin Jones due to a thigh injury. Darren Lock could also return following his recent suspension.
