WEYMOUTH 33 BRIDPORT 17

WEYMOUTH produced a good performance to beat Bridport at home, running in tries from both forwards and backs alike.

The hosts were at full strength with plenty of reserves available, which enabled the match to be split into three, 25-minute sections to allow all players to get some game time under their belts.

Both teams began brightly, each cancelling out their opponents’ attack and demonstrating some good defensive play.

But the deadlock was broken by Weymouth, who scored 19 unanswered points in the first third with the wind very much in their favour.

The second period started with Weymouth making six substitutions but with the wind at the Blues’ backs, Bridport racked up 17 points.

The hosts made more changes in the final period but this time they made the difference as Weymouth restored their healthy advantage and went on to win 33-17.
