WEYMOUTH 12 WOODFORD 26
WEYMOUTH were beaten by Essex touring side Woodford in a friendly at Monmouth Avenue.
The Dorset & Wilts Divis-ion One South champions started the game well but fell behind to an early try.
The hosts then fought back with veteran David Stone scoring his first touchdown of the season before James Almond added the extras.
The Monmouth Avenue outfit continued to attack and scored a great forwards’ try after a line-out, Rich Polley secured the ball from the set-piece and formed a good attacking maul and Ian Tibble crossed the whitewash.
However, after making several changes in their line-up the tourists went on to win the game.
Ady Walker shone for Weymouth with his non-stop tackling and Almond played a superb game at number ten, but the man-of-the-match accolade went to third-team stalwart Stone, Weymouth will entertain another touring side on May 5 (3pm) when Sandown & Shanklin visit.
