LEE Pester and Carole Hughes were the winners after the third running of the Osprey Sprint Triathlon.

The event, which consisted of a 300m swim, 20k bike and a 5k run, took place at the Osprey Leisure Centre, Portland.

Organiser Mark Steen was delighted with the day’s proceedings and the enthusiasm shown from the marshals and competitors.

He said: “We are very lucky to have such great facilities at the Osprey to hold such an event and would like to thank the staff and race team for the work they all put in.

“All of our marshals are volunteers and give a great deal of support to the club and are enthusiastic towards the competitors, especially those giving triathlon a go for the very first time.

“The results in the men’s and ladies’ races show some very quick times, this being the result of the course slightly changing from the past two years.

The next event in the race calendar is the Weymouth Classic and Sprint Triathlon, which takes place at Bowleaze Cove, Weymouth on June 17.

Steen expects this to be a big event this year as it is the only triathlon happening in Weymouth in 2012.

He added: “Our advice is to get entered as soon as possible before it reaches its capacity.”
