RYAN Stout and Mike Powell took the A Series honours in the latest round of matches in the ‘Go Spike’ Beach Volleyball League in Weymouth.

Many of the teams chose to change partners from previous weeks but the combination of Rob Semmence and Dom Cosserat remained and they battled through to the final for the fourth time this season by narrowly defeating Elliott Sawyer and James Tagart 21-17.

The other last-four tie saw Stout and Powell come up against the father and daughter pairing of Terry and Chloe Oldrid but despite being hot favourites they were made to battle all the way.

After taking an expected early lead, Stout and Powell appeared in complete control at 20-15 until excellent serving from Terry Oldrid pulled the score back to 20-apiece to pile on the pressure.

However, Stout and Powell just managed to hold their nerve to eventually come through 22-20 to seal a date with Semmence and Cosserat in the showpiece where they produced their best volleyball of the night to run out 21-12 winners.

The B Series was equally entertaining with Ashley Warren and Adam James picking up their first-ever victory. They beat Sally Hunt and John Sedden 21-10 in the final.

The competition continues next Tuesday evening by the Boat Bar and because each week is a separate competition new players of all standards are always welcome. Players need to register on the beach between 6pm and 6.30pm.
