Division One

WATERSIDE 64 CASEY COMETS 18

THERE appears to be no stopping league leaders Waterside at present as they cemented their grip on top spot in Division One with a dominant display against Casey Comets.

With just six available players, the Comets knew they were in for a tough game from the outset and Waterside immediately capitalised on that by setting a fast pace from the off.

Excellent shooting and great interceptions from goal-keeper Sally Davis handed the table-toppers a 32-10 lead at half-time and although their opponents played much better after the interval they had no answer to Waterside’s superiority Centre Kirsty Winning’s commitment for the Comets in adversity was extremely admirable but by the end the score was increased to 64-18 as the onslaught continued right up until the final whistle.

GW ELECTRICAL 20 AUTOBITZ 55

AUTOBITZ flew out of the traps and recorded a fine victory against GW Electrical.

Superb work by impressive goal-attack Liz Courtice saw Bitz take control from the outset and with goal-defence Becky Hallett producing some timely interceptions at the other end it was no surprise to see their side 16-5 up after the first period.

GW worked hard to cut the deficit with great centre-court play from Vicky Sharpe, but the shooters were pressurised by the Bitz defence, who ensured the gap remained.

After half-time, GW’s circle defence managed to make things slightly more difficult for the Bitz shooters but in the end the latter ran out easy winners, 55-20.

Division Three

SGM HAIR 28 MANE RD 21

HIGH-FLYING SGM Hair had to dig deep in this hard-fought game against Mane Rd in Division Three.

Mane made the better start with goal-shooter Jaz Franklin working the ball well and putting up some accurate shots to give her side a slender one-goal advantage at the end of the first period.

Another even quarter then followed before Mane brought on Leanne Holmes in a bid to add some strength to their attack.

However, SGM’s goal-keeper Helen Norcombe played yet another excellent and consistent game to keep her side in with a shout going into the final quarter.

The second-placed outfit came out revitalised and soon began to turn up the heat on Mane, whose lack of experience in adult netball soon began to show.

The young side refused to give up though, and in the end SGM were elated to prevail 28-21.
