CATTISTOCK’s assault on all fronts continued as they pulled off fine victories over Cerne Valley and Plush to keep their double hopes alive in the Dorchester Evening League.

The Division One leaders maintained their impressive league form by posting a target of 121-9 at Cerne with Bruce Maltby top scoring with 27.

Tom Goatley snared 3-30 for the hosts but their reply faltered to just 83 all out despite a fine innings from Pearce Mercer (39). Buddy Langford was Cattistock’s top bowler with 4-21.

It was a similar story for the table-toppers against Division Three outfit Plush in the Knockout Cup.

On this occasion they posted a score of 108-7 before restricting their lower-league opponents to 80-8 with James England (37) and Martin Langford (2-18) their standout performers. Luke Raines impressed for Plush by taking 4-34.

Martinstown (98-5) remain level on points with Cattistock after a fine victory over Dewlish (93-6) but they have played one game more, while St George’s sit two points adrift of the summit with two games in hand.

In Division Two, Winfrith’s lead at the top was stretched to four points following convincing victories over Abbotsbury and Martinstown Sec-onds.

Ryan Norman (5-11 and 16) was the chief destroyer of Abbotsbury as they managed just 64, which was eventually overcome for the loss of six wickets.

As for Martinstown, they could only manage 72-8 in reply to Winfrith’s impressive knock of 143-8.

Another performance that des-erves a special mention in the second flight is Nick Cheeseman’s unbeaten knock of 71. That was enough to lead second-placed Bere Regis (143-4) to a fine win against Charlton Down (81-4).

Finally, Churches United remain top of Division Three, two points clear of Puddletown Reserves (110-6), who enjoyed a superb victory against Winfrith Seconds (88) courtesy of a fine knock from Steve Chaldecott (45no) and some great bowling from Mike Thompson (3-11).
