TOM England is taking nothing for granted as Weymouth prepare to face basement boys Blandford (1.30pm).

The latter have sunk to the bottom of the table following a five-match losing streak.

But with both sides hoping to contest their first fixture of the month, England insists the form book will count for nothing in North Dorset.

The Weymouth batsman said: “It’s like pre-season all over again but hopefully we will get a game in tomorrow as we haven’t had as much rain as in previous weeks.

“We won’t read too much into their results as we’re both starting from scratch tomorrow. We need to get our heads on it and put in a good performance, and if we do that there’s no reason why we can’t get a positive result.

“We are all in the same boat as most teams haven’t picked up a bat in over two weeks.

“In the Premier League there has only been one game in the last two weeks and it’s been a bit of a nightmare, but we can’t do a lot about the weather.

“It’s just a shame because once a game is rained off it is gone forever. The season is short enough as it is without all these rain-offs.

“We are looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow. We’ve been in good form of late and it’d be nice to keep the run going, but we know we’ll have to work hard tomorrow.”

The Seasiders currently sit sixth in the county’s top-flight, a mere point behind fierce rivals Dorchester .

England added: “It’s getting close between us but there is still a long way to go.

“It’d be good to get into that top five after the last couple of seasons and if we keep winning we may well finish in a good position.”
