South West Inter Counties and SW 3,000m Senior Championships

BEN Westhenry won gold in the under-20 men’s 800m at the South West Championships a week after illness blighted his form at the English Schools Championships.

His time of 1.57.9mins was below his pb but enough for him to claim victory.

He followed this up with a nine-second pb of 8.37.56mins in the South West 3,000m Senior Championships in Exeter.

Although Westhenry was in second place coming into the last 100m, he ended up third in the under-20 section after being caught on the line, but this was a very encouraging performance and knocked well over a minute off the club record.
