WELLWORTHY have become county bowls champions after triumphing in the finals at Dorchester .
Curly Reed, Nigel Skidmore and Roy Burnett beat Lyme Regis in the triples final 23-5 to lift the crown.
Stuart Reed, Ryan Stone, Graham Parker and Roy Burnett then added to the Wellies’ haul when they overcame Alexander Park, Poole in the rink final 22-20.
The quartet have recently competed in the national fours final at Worthing, but lost in the first round to previous champions Cambridgeshire 23-15, despite leading 12-3 after nine ends.
Curly Reed, Skidmore and Burnett, also competed at the nationals, reaching the second round of the triples, before falling to the eventual winners Sussex.
The trio beat Suffolk in the preliminary round 23-15 and then overcame Cumbria 19-17 in the first round, before being edged out 16-15 by Sussex.
Stone was a member of the Dorset Under-25 double rink team that lost to Devon in the semi-final off the All England Championships.
The Wyke -based club is starting indoor season memberships at a cost of £34.
