SHERBORNE TOWN RESERVES 1 CHICKERELL UNITED 3

JOSH Why was the star of the show for Chickerell United as they sealed back-to-back victories at Sherborne Town Reserves.

The lively forward bagged two and was a constant threat throughout as the Chickens went on to completely dominate the game before conceding late on.

United boss Maurice Welch said: “We were always in control and could have scored a few more.

“Josh put us ahead after just 10 minutes and from there it was just a matter of how many.

“It remained 1-0 up until half-time but to be honest I don’t think they had a single shot on our goal in the entire first half.

“We then eventually got the second on 55 minutes through Josh before Liam Miles added another with a superb curler with the outside of his right foot, which was the goal of the game.

“They then got one back with 10 minutes remaining but it was already job done.

“They were not great to be fair but you can only beat what is in front of you and I thought there were some good performances again, particularly from Josh, who was a constant thorn in their side and was without doubt my man of the match.

“The only downside was a nasty ankle injury to Liam Beades, who is now likely to be out for at least a couple of weeks.”

The victory has moved Chickerell up to fifth in the Magna Dorset Premier League but they are still six points adrift of the top four.

Their next assignment is a Dorset Senior Cup tie at high-flying Holt United this coming Saturday (2.30pm).
