A CHRISTMAS social held at Castle Cove Sailing Club (CCSC) raised money for the Julia’s House charity and the RNLI Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

The evening started with a welcome drink and guests were treated to some well-rehearsed Scottish dancing led by Cindy.

Throughout the evening, there was a quiz sheet on the table which kept all entertained while the food was enjoyed.

Talking about the social, Neil Stroud said “I have to say the highlight of the evening had to be the Scottish challenge, the making of bagpipes from a box of bits that ranged from whistle’s to balloons and marigolds to tape.

"The performance that followed with the improvised bagpipes were not something to be easily forgotten.

"It was a very enjoyable evening with a strong Scottish flavour and more than £600 over six hundred pounds was raised for two very worthy causes. It is events like this along with the sailing that makes CCSC a great club to belong to.”
