FOR Weymouth Sailing Club (WSC), the festivities of 2015 have been exciting, filled with fun and noise.

The Christmas luncheon was attended by nearly 50 members and guests. All enjoyed a two-course meal as well as mince pies, coffee, chocolates and even a present from Santa Father Christmas.

Invited guests this year were Lyn and Rob Atkins. Lyn had organised the coffee club luncheons for 14 years but she is now on the move and therefore she was presented with a card and a model boat by Kevin Sear as a token of the club’s appreciation.

The Christmas party was also much fun with 70 members and their guests enjoying it – as many members said: “One of the best meals they have eaten at the club”.

Lynn Capp won the beautiful raffle prize of a hamper, with the proceeds donated to Chesil Sailability. Kathy and Peter Aitken won the caption competition.

Many members joined new commodore Euan McNair for his Christmas punch party.

The photograph competition attracted 24 entries with the winner being a picture taken by Geoff Warren during the Yacht Clubs of Weymouth Regatta, pipping Tim Bowden's entry.

The photo was of Bengal Magic helmed by Jim and Annie Chalmer’s son, James. It will appear on the front cover of the WSC Handbook 2016.

Second place was an action photograph of Tim Bowden sailing his Osprey. The photo will grace the front cover of the dinner and dance prizegiving booklet.

At the 'Strictly Evening', decorations which included a glitter ball were much in evidence and enjoyed by everyone who attended to watch the final.

Social secretary Jane Buckle said: “There was lovely food eaten in the interval, an unequivocal 10 rating for the whole evening.

We would like to thank some members, who although not members of the Social Sub-committee, are crucial to making these events such a success.”
