EVERYONE is invited to get involved at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) on Sunday.

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Sail for Gold Roadshow will arrive at the WPNSA with members of the British Sailing Team who are not currently competing in Rio.

The day will mark the Medal Race day in Rio for the RS:X fleets which include Weymouth windsurfers, Bryony Shaw and Nick Dempsey.

Dempsey’s training partners, Kieran Martin and Tom Squires will join 2012 Match Racing Olympian, Kate MacGregor to provide tips and information to visitors.

There will be free sailing and windsurfing taster sessions from 9.30am to 4pm and the opportunity to watch the Olympic sailing medal races, live from Rio, on screens at 5pm at the Academy.

Food and refreshments will also be available including a barbecue.

RYA sport development manager Duncan Truswell said: “We’re delighted to be able to support our athletes as they go for gold in Rio.

“This event will be the first of a series of fantastic opportunities for locals to come down and get afloat during what will be a great summer of sailing and find out why it can be so much fun at all levels.

“We’d like to thank each of the sailing venues that have played significant roles during the sailors’ journeys and have helped make these events possible. We hope to see everybody turn out to cheer our sailors home.”
