WEYMOUTH Gig Rowing Club saw a ninth place finish for the Ladies' Veterans with good results across the board at the 29th Isles of Scilly World Pilot Gig Championship.

The club had nine crews competing, while there were 160 boats competing in total with crews coming from as far afield as the USA and Holland.

The club recorded some good results in the Veterans' section, which took place on Friday evening, with the Ladies' Veterans crew finishing in ninth position and their Super Veterans finishing in 12th, while the Mens Veterans A crew came in 12th and the B crew in 50th.

There was a surprise in the placings in the main races, which took place over the Saturday and Sunday, when the Ladies B crew achieved a higher overall placing of 46th than their A crew who finished 50th.

In the overall placings the Mens A crew finished 57th, the Mens B in 122nd, the Ladies A in 50th, the Ladies B in 46th and the Ladies C in 119th.

Reflecting on the weekend club captain Lynn Reynolds said that she was proud of all the crews and and their results and that she hoped the club would go on to achieve even more success in the new season.
