CATTISTOCK & SYMENE 93 (1pt) lost to DORCHESTER 95-3 (19pts) by seven wickets

DORCHESTER swept to a convincing seven-wicket win over Cattistock & Symene in their Wessex Internet Dorset Premier League contest.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Foxes were instantly on the back foot as Simon Mitchem (2-14) and Harry Jones (1-20) removed openers Jason Bradley (1) and Sam Baker (6).

Sam Good (43) and Ollie Legg (16) resisted with a strong third-wicket partnership but Dorchester steadily ground them down with spin.

Left-arm spinner Krish Subramanian took 5-47 and skipper Jon Legg claimed 2-9 against his former club as the Foxes were bowled out for just 93.

Jon Legg (40) then anchored Dorchester’s reply as Jamie Barrett (17) and Jack Owens (20) also contributed.

The trio guided Dorchester to the brink of victory, despite tidy spells from Ollie Legg (1-22) and Romario Bibby (1-26).

It was left to Ryan Buckley (6no) and Gautham Rajendar (4no) to finish off the good work and book a 19-point win.

Dorchester stay third, leaving them 28 points behind leaders Wimborne with a pivotal meeting between the sides at Dorchester Rec on Saturday (1pm).

Dorchester captain Legg said: “You never expect to bowl a team out for less than 100. We bowled good areas and got our rewards.

“They had a good partnership for the third wicket but once we got through that it was very comfortable.

“The next two weeks are massive, we’ll look to cause a big dent in Wimborne’s title charge and take it into the last week of the season.”

Dorchester Seconds lost to Shillingstone by 70 runs in County Division Three, while their third team had a bye weekend.
