DAVE Trotter is expecting a tough test at second-bottom Stalbridge tomorrow (1.30pm), where Weymouth will be taking nothing for granted.

The Seasiders have looked much improved this season but they are still struggling for consistency with the bat – a factor they are hoping to put right at the Park this weekend.

One man that could help them do that is talismanic opener Hayden White, who was sorely missed last Saturday when his side bowled out heavy-hitters Parley for 142 only to fall 18 runs short in reply.

Trotter is still haunted by that defeat but is backing his men to get back on track at the first time of asking.

He told Echosport: “Stal-bridge is never an easy place to go and it is important we are ready for it.

“I know they have been bowled out cheaply a couple of times this season but they still possess some good players and are always a tough nut to crack on their own patch.

“Our main problem at the moment is getting runs and if we can address that and continue our good work in the field we will be a match for anyone.

“The fact we bowled out a fine batting side like Parley for just 142 and failed to beat them was extremely disappointing and a lot of us are still smarting from it.

“However, we have got to move forward now and the best way to do that is by immediately getting back on track with a good performance this weekend.”

Commenting on White’s return, Trotter added: “The good thing with Hayden is that you know out of 10 innings he will win you three games and we really did miss him last weekend.

“If he gets in at the top of the order it breeds confidence and takes the pressure off those coming in behind him, who can then just play their normal games.

“Just like bowling, you need balance in your batting order and once we find that we will be well on our way.”

Tim Guyett is the other man to come in for Weymouth this weekend with Dan Hutchens and Will McKay both unavailable.

The Seasiders have won three of their seven games so far. The other was rained off.
