WEYMOUTH brought the curtain down on their campaign in style with the club’s annual end-of-season presentation evening held in the Ocean Ballroom at Weymouth Pavilion.

First-team skipper Stewart Yetton bagged three awards on the night, including the manager’s player of the season, the golden boot and the supporters’ home player of the season trophies.

Player-manager Jason Matthews also saw his impressive performances in the Weymouth goal rewarded, as he picked up the players’ player crown as well as the supporters’ away player of the season prize.

In the reserves, goalkeeper Ryan Park claimed two awards, scooping the players’ player and secretary’s player trophies.

Boss Jake Richmond gave the manager’s player award to Gareth Will, with Adam Anstey receiving the supporters’ player of the year honour for the reserves.

As the reserves continues to develop with a main aim of producing players for the first team, the side’s most improved player this season went to Sam Nichols, with Luke Chatterton staking claim to the young player of the year award.

Chairman Nigel Biddlecombe gave his congratulations to the victors on the night, saying: “I would like to congratulate all the award winners and all of the Supporters Association for laying on the event.

“All the awards are very well deserved by the players that received them, but all of the prizes are part of a team effort and everybody did their bit.”

On behalf of the Weymouth Supporters Association, chairman Ade Macdonald added: “It was a tremendous night and lots of people worked incredibly hard from the Supporters Association.

“It all paid off and I cannot thank them enough.

“I’d also like to extend our thanks to all of our sponsors and all the supporters and fans that bought tickets and came along.

“I’d also like to thank the Pavillion, a big part of the night was us deciding to go there. You cannot go wrong with them and they did a really good job.”
