JASON Matthews is neither threatened nor worried by the physicality of Chippenham Town, as the Terras are set for a showdown with the Bluebirds in Wiltshire tonight (7.45pm).

With his side’s fixture against Bideford called off last month, Mathews got the opportunity to view tonight’s opposition first hand at the Avenue when they beat Dorchester Town 1-0 in a game marred with controversy.

Former Magpies’ boss Phil Simkin branded the Bluebirds “a bunch of experienced bullies” on that evening, but Matthews did not agree.

“I didn’t think they were that physical to be honest,” he told Echosport.

“I know what they are about and they will really want to win. Teams go about things differently and I wouldn’t say they were too physical, they just saw the game out very well at Dorchester.

“It was the first chance I had to watch another game in our league this season and I took advantage of it. I knew what they are about without watching them anyway but they have changed their style of play this season.”

Defender Sam Poole, , who impressed significantly when the Terras were last on the road at Cambridge City, will not feature tonight after the Terras’ boss confirmed he will be out for around three weeks with ligament damage to his ankle, sustained at the weekend against Slough Town.

“Sam did very well in the games he came in for and he did well before we had to take him off on Saturday,” he added.

“But Ed (Palmer) came on and was very good again, it goes to show we have competition for places which is what we need.

“It’s going to be an extremely tough game and their sloping pitch plays to their advantage. They have improved this season with who they have signed.

“I would take a 1-0 win any day of the week, any away win you take as a manager and we will go there to try and keep it tight and not make any silly mistakes.”
