CORFE MULLEN 0 DORCHESTER SPORTS 2

DORCHESTER Sports got back to winning ways by recording their fifth Dorset Senior League success of the season.

A never-ending injury list meant Sports needed to sign former players Sam Turner, Tony Rimmer and Matt Drake to fulfil the fixture, while they also welcomed back frontman Robbie Rolls.

Corfe started the brighter but failed to create many chances early on.

Sports were organised and used the width of the pitch well, with Rimmer and Darren Webb looking to get in behind the Corfe defence.

When Rimmer played the ball to Ben Mackie on the edge of the box, he found Rolls to smash Sports into the lead.

Rollls and Mackie were causing lots of problems for the home side and when the latter played the former in again it looked like the second goal would follow.

However, Rolls took one too many touches and this time the defender cleared.

Much of the game was a battle between the two midfields, but Lewis Amor and Sports’ captain Jason Read protected their defence superbly, hardly giving Corfe a sniff.

Amor then won the ball in the middle, fed Mackie, and when he gave it to Rolls the striker found the net to complete his brace.

Next up for Sports is a trip to in-form Witchampton United where boss Ashley James should have three or four key players back.

Sports: Luque, Burt, Turner, Lochrie, Tewkesbury, Read, Amor, Webb, Rimmer (Drake), Mackie, Rolls (Hopkins)
