BRIDPORT are in a “buoyant” mood ahead of their FA Cup tie with Alresford Town tomorrow (3pm), according to boss Trevor Senior.

The Bees travel to Hampshire for an extra preliminary round encounter against the Sydenhams League Premier Division outfit on the back of a first league win of the season in midweek.

Warren Byerley’s goal gave Senior’s team a 1-0 victory over Buckland Athletic after they had lost at Bristol Manor Farm on the opening day of the campaign.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Senior said: “We’ve done a bit of homework ahead of the game but it’s really about how we play and whether we can perform like we have in our first two games.

“Every club looks at the FA Cup and hopes they can go two or three rounds to put a few quid in the coffers.

“Everybody is out for the same thing and it’s not going to be easy on Saturday, but we are buoyant at the moment and there is a buzz around the club.

“People are enjoying their football and that makes a big difference.”

And there could be some good news for Senior on the injury front going into the Alresford game.

He added: “Darren Watts’ groin is improving and he might have a chance of playing on Saturday which would be a bonus for us.

“Alan Hill is still probably a week away with his ankle but Jamie Beasley is getting back into it and is a few weeks away now.

“With physio, Chris Senior (knee) has been told he could be back by the start of September, if not before.”
