DORCHESTER Town player-manager Mark Jermyn felt it was a point gained after his side drew 2-2 with Stratford Town at the Avenue Stadium.

The Magpies played against 10 men for more than 50 minutes and having equalised in the 47th minute, were unable to break down a stubborn visiting side.

Despite this, Jermyn, who scored a rare goal in the encounter, was pleased to see his side turn out a good performance.

He told Echosport: “We’ve been through a tough time and it was vital to get something on the board.

“We deserved more than a point, but the keeper made some great saves and we missed some half chances.

“Some may be critical that we didn’t beat 10 men, but they saw it out and dropped deep.”

Speaking about his goal, Jermyn said: “I was looking for Nathan (Walker) at the back post and I got a little bit of luck.

“We put it in the areas, and you see what you can get.

“I had a couple of other shots, which weren’t great.”

The boss had an eventful game as he was involved in the sending off of Dion Angus, a decision that he thought was correct.

He added: “He jumped up and kneed me in the back (from a throw-in). The referee has seen it and shown a red, which was correct.”

It has been a tough start to the season for the Magpies, and Jermyn wants his players to remain consistent if they are to pick up more points.

The player-manager explained: “I want the performance levels to stay the same, regardless of result.

“Tides will turn. If we keep working hard we will improve.

“The challenge is to keep on going and we have to keep picking up points.”
