JURASSIC Coast Girls FC, who have been inspired by the England Lionesses' march to the semi-finals of he EUFA Women's European Championships, are inviting girls to their open day on Friday.

The event is aimed at existing and new players as well as their parents, and is part of the FA Girls' Football Week Euro celebrations, and will be held from 5-6.30pm at the Marsh.

Parents will be able to learn about the Charter Standard club's ethos and club charter while the girls will be given the opportunity to experience various footballing activities, mixing with existing club players, with the emphasis very much on fun.

New players and any club players bringing a friend will be rewarded with two further free Jurassic Coast Girls' coaching sessions, as well as receiving an England Lionesses' water bottle and hairband, courtesy of the County FA.

The club is hoping to target girls who will be in school Years One to Four from September, which are the ages for which they were recently awarded a “Grow the Game” grant from the Football Foundation.

However, girls from Year Five and Six are also invited to get involved too.

Jurassic Coast Girls FC will have teams in both the under-11 and under-9 age groups of the Dorset Girls' League this season.

The club will also operate an under-7 squad, which is currently focused on fun and friendship with the aim of participating in some friendly matches and the club's own dedicated girls' football festival towards the end of the 2017-18 season.

The club was founded in 2016 and is at the forefront of girls' football development in Dorset with the club secretary recently voted on to the Girls' League Management committee.

The club have also led the County Girls' Futsal Festivals for several age groups on the Dorset County FA’s behalf.

In June, they hosted the region's only dedicated Girls Football Festival, supported by their sister club, Women’s Super League 1 club Yeovil Town Ladies FC.

Club chairman, Nathan Wood said: "Jurassic Coast Girls is all about fairness, equality, giving all girls the opportunity to participate in a level of football they feel comfortable with.

"We have been fortunate over the course of the last year to receive the support of the Postcode Lottery Community Trust, the Steve Bernard Foundation, Pilgrim House Trust and the Football Foundation, which has helped the club grow at a rapid rate and build our resources.

"Our link with WSL sister club Yeovil Town Ladies gives the players regular access to UEFA qualified coaches, tournaments and festivals as well as forging links with other sister clubs across the region.”

Jurassic Coast Girls FC play matches on Saturday mornings and run their regular coaching sessions for the age groups below:

Under-11s (School Years Five and Six from September) – Monday Nights 6-7pm

Under-9s (School Years Three and Four from September) – Monday Nights 5-6pm
