BLUES’ chief Gary Bailey insists he is happy to keep picking up wins under the radar, in a bid to stay at the top end of the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

The island outfit have been in sublime form of late with 10 wins on the bounce – Portland are also unbeaten in league action since October.

And while his squad as a whole are on such a strong run, Bailey insists the hardest task he has at present is picking his starting line-up.

“I don’t have to do too much at the moment, my hardest job is to pick 11,” he told Echosport.

“I have around 15 or 16 and I’d be delighted to start each and every one of them, there would be no weak side, whoever plays.”

While league big guns Moneyfields and Blackfield & Langley occupy the top two spots at present, Bailey’s Blues are within touching distance with two games in hand on both their high-flying rivals.

He added: “We are not going to stand up on the rooftops and start shouting and making a big noise about ourselves.

“We have gone about our business quietly but I’m sure the teams in and around us are looking, and our run itself speaks volumes.

“It’s there for all to see and my lads are an honest bunch. They keep giving me performance after performance and, while they keep giving me those levels, I cannot ask for any more.”
