DORCHESTER SPORTS 10

SHERBORNE TOWN RESERVES 0

DORCHESTER Sports continued their fine form at the Avenue Stadium with their biggest win since joining the Dorset Premier League, putting 10 goals past Sherborne Town Reserves.

Will Turland was the star for Ashley James' men, hitting a staggering six goals.

Sports' squad was again stretched to the limit, with ever-present Cormac Lochrie missing. Dan Peart came in and Dan Anderson replaced the injured Joel Hewitt, with Adam Steele starting his first game of the season, meaning Steve Churchill was the only substitute.

The hosts started brightly and were on the front foot from the off, winning a free kick on the edge of the box which Peart stepped up to curl into the top corner past Josh Lucas in the Sherborne goal.

Sports' lead was doubled shortly later when Gareth Will's pinpoint cross was met by Turland to tap in his first of the afternoon.

Luke Gatehouse was then brought down in the box and Jamie Symes slotted his 11th goal of the season past Lucas from the spot and Turland completed his brace and Sports' fourth just before the break.

The second half was pure bombardment from Sports as they hunted more goals and the fifth came in quick time, Turland completing his hat-trick.

Jamie Samways and Gatehouse added further goals before Turland added another two to make it 9-0.

Double figures did arrive late on when Turland added his sixth of the day to take his tally to 11 for the season in a perfect day for Sports.

Speaking to Echosport, boss James described his side's performance as "clinical".

He said: "It was just clinical really, we took our chances. We got off to a really fast start and continued it through the game.

"Pretty much every chance went in the back of the net. It's good for confidence but there are tougher games coming up so we have to be ready for them."

Commenting on Turland's double hat-trick, James insisted his form "relieves the pressure" on other players.

He said: "You know if he gets a chance, nine times out of 10 he's going to put it away.

"Having a player like that scoring goals relieves the pressure off everyone else. I think he had about eight chances and put six of them away.

"The clean sheet was also our first of the season, so we can build from there, it breeds confidence."
