DORCHESTER Sports and Balti Sports bosses Ashley James and Marco Nott are keen to push on with an increasingly congested fixture schedule, dismissing the notion of extending their league seasons.

Dorchester Sports have 14 games left to play in the Dorset Premier League, while Balti have 11 matches.

Both sides are set to play into early May, while other teams will still be playing some two weeks later.

Speaking to Echosport about the situation, Dorchester Sports’ manager James is eager to conclude the season.

He said: “It’s just been awful weather. I’m happy to get it done. We’ve got a big squad and it will build momentum.

“I quite enjoy it, I’m not sure the lads do, but the more games the better for me. We’ll be back pre-season training in June, so we need a break. It’s tough on the legs but everyone’s in the same boat.”

Balti boss Nott echoed James’ thoughts, adding that he would be “quite happy” to wrap up the season as soon as possible.

He said: “I’m not really bothered, it’s been a disastrous campaign. We’re quite happy to get the fixtures over with.

“If it’s two or three a week it doesn’t really matter. As long as we can enjoy the post-season and get ready to go again next season.

“I think last year we went without a post-season so you’re talking about a month off. We’ll have more than that off this time because it will be needed.”
