DORCHESTER Town chief Phil Simkin will assess his walking wounded tonight as injury worries continue to mount.

The latest setback for the Magpies’ boss came in Tuesday night’s Skrill South clash with Weston-super-Mare when right-back Danny Green was forced off early in the second-half.

Speaking after the 3-0 defeat, Simkin confirmed that Green, in only his second competitive game back for the club following eight months out through injury, had felt a problem with his hamstring.

And that wasn’t the only concern for Simkin on the night as captain Mark Jermyn was replaced just before the final whistle – Jermyn missed most of pre-season with a swollen knee.

With five men nursing knocks and Jake Smeeton recovering from a fractured toe, the Magpies’ troubles are mounting only two matches into the new campaign.

And Simkin admitted he may be forced to bring Arran Pugh back for Saturday’s encounter with Whitehawk ahead of schedule.

“I’ll have to get to training on Thursday and see who is still standing,” he said.

“Calvin Brooks, Harry Bell, Jake Smeeton, Danny Green and Arran Pugh have all got injuries and I don’t know how Mark Jermyn is going to be.

“It might be that I have to bring Arran back early.

“I think it’s going to be quite a long winter.

“I’m not sure what the answer is if I cannot bring any reinforcements in.

“If the injuries keep racking up, what am I going to do?”
