DOLPHIN claimed third place in the Weymouth Sunday League as they thrashed Moby Dick’s at Redlands.

Needing a win from their last league game of the season to overtake New Star in the table, Dolphin hit their opponents for eight.

Oscar Preece grabbed a hat-trick in his side’s 8-0 victory, while Doug Beveridge, Mark Cheater, Antony Luque, Marco Nott and Sean Zima also scored.

Dolphin can now look forward to their clash with Famous Old Spa in the Dorset Sunday Intermediate Cup final a week on Sunday.

Four other teams completed their league programme last weekend.

There were nine goals in the game between Sailors Return and Bakers Arms at Redlands.

Unfortunately for Bakers Arms they only managed two in a 7-2 reverse against their hosts.

Matthew Balsdon was on fire with a hat-trick, Gary Brindley netted twice, and Daniel Andrews and Mike Winter bagged one each.

James Duncan and Kieran Fitzgerald replied for the visitors, who end the campaign on 16 points.

Meanwhile, The Alex missed the opportunity to sneak into the top five after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Weatherbury.

The hosts led 2-1 at half-time but Weatherbury stormed back in the second period to claim all three points and move up to ninth place in the league standings.

Daniel McGarrigal was on target twice for the visitors, while James Hurst scored their other goal.

There is just one league fixture of the season left and that takes place at Redlands on Sunday.

Champions Kings Arms will be looking to sign off in style with a 21st triumph of the season against visitors Market House.
