WEYMOUTH martial arts instructor Giles Richards has sealed success in a title eliminator for the ISKA Area K1 belt.

The Dorset fighter stopped Chase Burnett during their battle in Bournemouth, meaning he will go on to fight for the title in December.

Richards was dominant throughout the bout having surged into the middle of the cage from the outset.

An after finding his range, he knocked Burnett down with a right kick to the head.

Burnett eventually got back off the canvas and was given permission to carry on by the referee, but around 30 seconds later the contest was stopped in favour of Richards.

He told Echosport: “I had been training every day without fail so was fit, sharp and strong.

“In my corner I had my normal pad man Lee Peaty and also Alex Reid.

“Obviously he’s had many fights and fought the best there is so I had tonnes of experience helping me out.”

Richards currently holds the area kickboxing title and Thai boxing title at 70kg.

And he admits to add the ISKA Area K1 belt to his collection would be a dream come true.

He added: “The atmosphere in there was amazing. To hear everyone cheering for you on top of it being filmed for Sky and then Alex Reid in my corner was definitely something I’ll not forget.

"But for now, my focus is on my students and also the up and coming fight show of mine which is on November 1 in Club Neo.”

Richards’ classes are open to all ages and abilities each week, for more information contact him on 07852148734.

The fighter also wished to thank his main sponsors in Adidas/Cimac and Tatsuo Fight Wear for their continued support.
