SNOOKES kept up their run for the Weymouth Sunday League crown with a win – despite not taking to the pitch.

The Alex were unable to field a side for their encounter with the league leaders meaning Snookes picked up the three points without a ball being kicked.

Famous Old Spa remain just three points behind the table toppers as they marched to a 3-0 win over Broadmayne.

After a goalless first half Leon Attree, Karl Dean and Ross Walden all got on the scoresheet after the interval.

If Famous Old Spa pick up the maximum six points from their remaining fixtures, then Snookes have to gather four points from their final two games to win the league.

At the bottom of the table, Junction Trojans were put to the sword by Kings Arms as the fourth-placed side romped to a 6-0 victory.

Jack Thompson notched up a hat-trick for the away side and there were also goals for Norton Rogers, Damien Walsh as well as substitute Izzy Stewart.

Kings Arms remain just two points behind Dolphin in the race for third place as they picked up a 7-1 win over league strugglers The Gloucester.

Danny Andrews was the star of the show for the visitors as he netted a four-goal haul in the victory.

Lee Rockingham chipped in with a brace and Sean Hawke also scored for Dolphin.

The home side did get a late consolation goal through captain Daniel Shepperd.

The Gloucester also played last Thursday and the result was very similar as they were trounced 6-1 by Famous Old Spa.

They were level at the break thanks to a goal from Aaron Shenton, but Famous Old Spa went up a gear and scored five unanswered goals to ease to victory.

After his first-half strike, Chris Skinner completed a well-deserved hat-trick. Dave Sowerby netted a brace while Kevin Paice also chipped in with a goal of his own.

This week, there are more midweek games as Snookes look to put one hand on the trophy when they take on Dolphin tonight (6.30pm).

The Alex are also in action tonight against fellow mid-table rivals Market House (6.30pm).

Following the games tonight, there are four games on Sun-

day with the pick of the bunch coming at the top of the

table.

Famous Old Spa host Snookes as the top two do battle in this mouth-watering contest that could see the title decided.

Elsewhere, The Alex take on Dolphin, Broadmayne face Finns and Kings Arms will do battle against Junction Trojans.
