DORSET have it all to do to on the final day of their MCCA Championship clash at Wiltshire, despite spinner Jigar Naik picking up seven wickets on day two.

With the hosts racking up 442-6 on the opening day, the away side resumed yesterday morning on 34-1 in reply, with Martinstown skipper Ed Nichols (9) already back in the shed.

And, unlike Wiltshire, none of the Dorset batsmen managed to post a big total first time round, as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Captain Chris Park (34) top scored for the away side batting at number seven, before he was dismissed by former Dorset viceskipper Jake Lintott (2-55).

There was also a first-ball duck for club professional Naik, as Dorset were bowled out for 232 in 79.1 overs, giving Wiltshire a firstinnings lead of 210. Jake Goodwin picked up 3-38.

Naik’s day was to get much better with the ball however, as he recorded a stunning 7-46 during the home team’s second innings, in which they went in search of quick runs and declared on 196-9 – setting Dorset a daunting target of 407 for victory.

Wiltshire’s Steve Bullen backed up his first-innings total of 201 with 75 from just 79 balls.

Dorset closed on 19-1 with opener Nichols dismissed by Lintott for just seven.
