MARTINSTOWN skipper Ed Nichols is keen to get going again after last weekend’s washout, when his side make the trip to Wimborne & Colehill tomorrow (1pm).

With his side’s home game against Poole Town cancelled due to rain, Nichols’ opportunity to skipper the Dorset Leopards against the Devon Lions last Sunday was also called off.

But the opening batsman is hopeful his club side come back refreshed and ready to go at the Leaze tomorrow.

“There is an enthusiasm to get back and play, which is good,” he told Echosport.

“It’s a nice place to play and a good ground. We have always raised our game there and played quite well at Wimborne in the past, so I am looking forward to it.

“They played very well at ours earlier in the season. They are a good batting side with good spin options as well.”

Asked what he felt his team needed to do to gain their fourth league win of the campaign, the Martinstown captain added: “It’s about a bit of maturity with the bat which is the biggest thing for us.

“I think it’s going to be that maturity, particularly batting in the middle overs when the spinners come on, and having a bit of nous not to give wickets away.”

All-rounder Sam Kershaw is set to miss out but Ben Doidge will come back in for the Villagers this weekend.
