BEN Westhenry showcased his potential as he returned from the Dorset Cross-Country Championships as county champion for the second year running.
The talented runner was among a trio of Weymouth St Paul’s Harriers athletes in action at the county showpiece along with his sister, Hannah, and Tom Austin.
And reigning under-15 champion Ben Westhenry disposed of all-comers once again, capturing the under-17 men’s 5.7k race in 17mins 22secs.
He finished more than a minute in front of Weymouth team-mate Austin, whose time of 18.50mins earned him the runners-up medal, with Poole AC’s Ben Mogg crossing the line 23 seconds further back in third.
Meanwhile, in the under-13 girls’ race, Hannah Westhenry undertook her first run in a county championship and produced a gutsy performance to clinch 17th place.
The under-15 girls’ event was won by Poole AC’s Emma Butterworth, but Dorchester AC scooped team gold with Beth Letherby taking second, Hilary Hansford third and Honor Slade fourth.
