BEN Joyce is in line to make his debut for the Terras this afternoon when they lock horns with Cirencester Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm).

The ex-Salisbury City striker, who has recently been turning out for Plymouth Parkway, has joined the club on non-contract terms and boss Brendon King is confident the 22-year-old can make a big impact.

He told Echosport: “I have done quite a bit of homework on Ben and spoke to quite a few people about him.

“David Byrne gave him his first-team debut at Swindon Town and has always rated him very highly and I watched him a couple of times myself at Salisbury last season.

“Not only is he very lively in the penalty area but he is also a good link-up player so I am looking forward to having him on board.

“He certainly gives us another option and I am confident he can become a bit of a hit down here.

“I am also in talks with another striker but just like with Ben, I don’t want to mention any names until everything gets sorted out.”

King has also regained the services of James Coutts on a month’s loan deal from AFC Totton but Byron Napper’s return has been held up.

The Weymouth manager added: “Ben and James are both available today but unfortunately the loan deal involving Byron has hit a little snag at Crawley Town’s end and the paperwork has not been completed in time. I have spoken to Byron and he is very keen to come back here so hopefully it will get sorted next week.”

Cirencester currently sit second-bottom in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, having won just five of their 27 league games so far this season, but King is not taking them lightly.

He said: “They are down there fighting for their lives and as has already been proved in this division anyone can beat anyone on any given day so nothing can be taken for granted.

“On Tuesday we produced a great performance at Stour-bridge and deserved our win but all the hard work that went into that will mean nothing if we slip up this afternoon.

“A couple of wins would push us right up the table so it is important we kick on now and look to guarantee safety as soon as possible, which was always the objective at the start of the season.”

Tom Manley will miss out again for Weymouth due to illness while Lewis Tasker has left the club this week to join Evesham United.

The Terras lie 15th in the table, seven points above the bottom four.
