GOSPORT BOROUGH 3 MAGPIES 0

DORCHESTER Town's run in the FA Trophy this season was over almost as soon as it began with Tom Dunford's brace helping Gosport to a deserved 3-0 win at Privett Park.

The defeat means the Magpies have now fallen at the first hurdle in both the FA Cup and Trophy this term, two competitions that served them so well this time last year.

Dunford gave Gosport the lead on 24 minutes, drilling a low shot past Alan Waker-Harris, and other than a Nick Crittenden effort there wasn't much to shout about for the Magpies.

That continued into the second half but the visitors remained in the game as the home side wasted several good chances.

But Justin Bennett and Dunford made the game safe for Gosport with goals two minutes apart at the end of normal time.

Victory in the third qualifying round for Gosport sees them go into the hat for the first round proper on Monday while the Magpies have to prepare for a home league encounter with Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
