SHOLING RES 3 DORCHESTER TOWN RES 0

DORCHESTER Town exited the John Stimpson Memorial Shield at the quarter-final stage following a defeat by Sholing.

The Magpies knew they had to be on their toes in the early stages and they held their own in the first half.

However, Sholing took the lead 15 minutes in when Oakley Hanger tried to clear a cross but the ball ended up in the back of his own net.

The game was stopped seven minutes before the break when county town skipper Chris Williams took an elbow to the head and was temporarily knocked out.

Sholing began the second half on the front foot but the Dorchester defence was equal to the task.

The visitors tried to get back on level terms and they created several chances.

But as the Magpies got forward more they inevitably left space at the back, and Sholing capitalised on this with 25 minutes to play.

And the visitors conceded a third from the penalty spot on 80 minutes after a foul by Owen Bush.

A Wyvern Premier Division clash at Wimborne Town awaits the young Magpies next Thursday.

Magpies: Hibbs, Bush, Williams (Old 38), Giles, Hanger, Huckstepp (White 65), Jerrard (Pashen 80), Murray, Onoufriou, Parrett, Walters. Subs not used: Neate, Lucas
