CHESHAM UNITED 3

DORCHSTER TOWN 0

A BRACE from Drew Roberts and a goal from Sam Youngs consigned Dorchester Town to their third straight league defeat as they lost 3-0 to Chesham United at the Meadow.

Roberts opened the scoring midway through the first half, before Youngs got in on the act in the 44th minute.

A volley from Roberts rounded off the scoring for the Generals in a disappointing afternoon for the county town side.

The Dorchester management were looking for a reaction after two losses in their opening two defeats, and they started brightly.

They won two corners early on, but the hosts were equal to them.

The away side continued their bright start with a free-kick that went close, but Ashlee Jones made the save.

From then, however, Chesham were in control and created chances before taking the lead in the 22nd minute.

Roberts was left unmarked in the box and he made no mistake, volleying the ball past Shane Murphy into the far corner.

After the first goal, both sides struggled to create many chances, but Chesham doubled their lead just before half-time.

Youngs, who scored a brace in midweek, was found by Dave Pearce’s cross and he headed home with aplomb.

Nick Crittenden was looking for a positive display from his side in the second half, but the game was out of their reach just after the interval.

Roberts added his second of the game with another volley in the 48th minute.

The home side’s confidence only grew after the goal and Roberts was unlucky not to secure his hat-trick midway through the second half as his shot could only find the post.

Roberts and Ryan Blake were combining well and continued to test Murphy, but he stood firm to keep the score respectable.

Dorchester were unable to create any clear cut chances in the second half as Tony Lee, signed on loan yesterday, could not trouble Jones.

Chesham finished the stronger to cap off a poor afternoon for the Magpies.

They will have to wait until Tuesday night for their next chance at securing their first point and goal of the season when they will take on Cirencester Town.
