BOSS Graham Kemp has labelled tomorrow’s home clash with Cambridge City as “vital” as Dorchester Town bid to stop their league rot at the Avenue (3pm).

The Magpies’ manager is hopeful that trio Chris Dillon, Jamie Gleeson and Jake Smee-ton could all shrug off injuries to feature in the encounter, and if fit, he believes their experience will provide a much-needed lift to his side.

Kemp told Echosport: “I am still very disappointed with Tuesday’s performance but we have to be upbeat and move on to tomorrow. There is no point in turning up for the game with long faces.

“If Chris, Glees and Smeets are fit that is like three new signings, it would massively boost the squad. We are hopeful for Chris and Glees but I think Smeets will be a bit touch and go.

“We do lack a little bit of experience, I am keen to promote youngsters but we are really in a position where I need to pick my most experienced team really.”

Although tomorrow’s visitors secured an impressive 2-1 win at home to Hungerford last weekend, they are also on a bad run of form with just one victory in their last 14 games in all competitions.

Commenting on the Lilywhites, Kemp added: “I have watched a DVD of a recent game of theirs and I have chatted to one or two managers about them. They are not doing as well as they normally do, they have been around the play-offs for the last two or three years.

“These games are running out against teams that are around us, sooner or later we are going to play the top five or six teams.

“At the moment it’s a blip, but if we lose Saturday and go on to lose against the likes of St Neots, Weymouth and Poole, who are up there, then it becomes eight or nine games. It’s vital to get a result tomorrow.”

The travelling support from the county town expressed their views towards the coaching staff following their 4-0 defeat at Hereford on Tuesday, but the Avenue chief is keen for all aspects of the club to get behind the side.

He said: “The fans pay their money and they are entitled to their opinion, there were the first signs of unrest on Tuesday, the travelling fans that came to watch us were unhappy and quite rightly.

“We have the fans’ forum on Monday where I am there to be quizzed and I will be as honest as I can be.

“For an hour and a half on Saturday we need the fans to get behind us, and, then behind closed doors, they can express their opinions and chat to me and I will try and explain things as best I can.”
