GRAHAM Kemp was immensely proud of his Dorchester Town charges, even though they emerged pointless during a remarkable afternoon trading blows in a free-scoring clash with St Neots Town on Saturday.

The Magpies came from behind on no fewer than four occasions, and a Jack Odam goal even put them 5-4 up with 19 minutes left on the clock.

But even though they fell to a staggering 6-5 defeat, the Avenue chief was keen to take the positives from his side’s display, and believes the performance proved the county town club can face up to any side in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

“I didn’t say much to the boys after because they were devastated and they gave me 100 per cent,” he told Echosport.

“The style of manager I am is that I never go anywhere and play second fiddle, I will go toe-to-toe with teams.

“We never tried to shut up shop and we felt the best way of getting something out of the game was to take the game to them.

“Attacking wise, if we play like that every week we will win far more games than we lose. We just need to stem the flow of goals against us but I doubt there is another team in the league that have the attacking ability that St Neots have all across the park.

“We just looked a little weary in the last 10 minutes and time wouldn’t run out for us unfortunately.

“We were up against a good team and we have to take the plusses and we have to believe that, despite the lack of points, we can go nose-to-nose with any team in the league.”
