JASON Matthews has called for his side to “right the wrongs” of last Saturday’s defeat to Poole Town when the Terras take on Redditch United at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Weymouth have had a week to lick their wounds following a 4-0 thumping handed out to them by the Dolphins, and the Terras’ boss believes his side are itching to get back on the field and display what they are really capable of.

“I am deeply hurt with the result last Saturday,” he told Echosport.

“A lot has been said on social media and in the media, and at the end of the day we were very disappointed.

“I was the first to hold my hands up, it wasn’t good enough. A lot of the lads are hurting and I could see that in training this week, and we need to put that right.

“We will never give up on the title until it is mathematically impossible.

“I don’t give up in anything in life in general and I certainly won’t give up on this.

“Personally, I want to get back out there and right the wrongs from last Saturday, and the lads will be the same.”

Commenting on this weekend’s visitors, who have lost their last three league contests, the Weymouth boss added: “Redditch hit a purple patch around November time and it is a good game for us to have.

“It gives us a chance to get back to doing what we do best at home.

“We have two really tough games coming up and I feel it doesn’t get much tougher than a home game against Redditch and an away game against Corby.

“If we can get two good results against those teams it cements our place in the play-offs.”

Matthews also took the time to praise Exeter City loan duo Jamie Reid and Connor Riley-Lowe, who could feature in their final games for the Terras this weekend.

“They have both had an impact since they came in,” added Matthews.

“As a team, it hasn’t quite happened since they have been in and I feel for them because they both have great potential, and I thank Exeter greatly for loaning them to us.

“We will check the situation to see if we can take them for another month.”

The last time Weymouth and Redditch met, a late Jamie Spencer penalty cancelled out Stewart Yetton’s opener in a 1-1 draw.
