FEARLESS Charlie Davis believes there are no limits to what the county town club can achieve this season, having got their league campaign off to a solid start.

The all-action midfielder, snapped up by player-manager Mark Jermyn from Dorset rivals Poole Town in June, insists the current Magpies’ set-up is as close-knit as he has been involved in as a player and thinks the Avenue outfit have the ability to knock off any of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division’s big guns.

Former AFC Bournemouth youngster Davis, who is set to line up in the Magpies’ squad when they face Stratford Town looking to maintain their unbeaten home league record this afternoon (3pm), told Echosport: “It’s the biggest team I have been involved in in terms of how close everyone is and it’s nice to have that as well as players who are very good technically.

“The lads do it for each other more than anything else. Nobody wants to let anyone down and we have no selfish players in our team.

“We all bounce off each other in terms of what we give and I think the squad has been put together very well. Our league position and results we have got against teams such as Weymouth is showing that.

“We don’t go into games and think ‘oh, this is what they have got as a threat’ we go and play our game and it has worked.

“Our results show that we are more than capable of mixing with teams that do have the experience and the budget that we don’t have due to the quality of the players that Jem has brought in.”

And while it is still early days, Davis’ belief in the Magpies’ ranks means he is tipping them to cause a stir at the top end of the table come the end of the campaign.

“I honestly believe that we can really push to go up and make something happen,” he added.

“We are only going to grow as a side.

“You’re not going to beat everyone, you are going to have off days and things like that but I don’t go into any match at the moment with Dorchester fearing the opposition.”
