INDIVIDUAL mistakes were again the contributing factor in Dorchester Town’s latest setback, according to boss Mark Jermyn.

The Magpies, who had Matt Oldring sent off, conceded from a penalty and another set-piece as they went down 2-0 at Redditch United on Saturday.

Jermyn’s charges had gone into the encounter at the Valley Stadium hoping to regain some pride following their midweek capitulation against Poole.

“Individual errors have cost us again,” said the county town chief after his side’s loss in Worcestershire. “And you can’t legislate for someone making a mistake.

“Matt Oldring slipped and gave away a penalty and then we conceded from a set-piece for the second goal.

“We worked on defending set-pieces in training before the game and everyone did what they were told to do.

“But I felt that as a defensive unit we should have done better with the corner that they scored from.”

Commenting on the spot-kick, Jermyn continued: “It all came from a long ball over the top which Matt chased with their player.

“Matt slipped, wiped out their lad, and the referee pointed straight to the spot. He gave Matt a second yellow and he had to go.

“I still felt we had enough in us to get something out of the game, but then we conceded from yet another set-piece.”

Dorchester will be desperate to arrest a run of four straight league losses when they host Paulton Rovers tomorrow night (7.45pm).
